I’m personally excited about the energy in STMS after just coming back from running a great North American Regional STMS meeting in partnership with PTR and iTPA February 16-18, 2018. This was an incredibly enthusiastic group of attendees and speakers and even more enthusiastic attendees. More details of what excellent information exchanged is available in the conference report and the talks and ultimately on court videos will be posted online (STMS members). I especially want to thank Julie Jilly and Dan Santorum (PTR, CEO) regarding their openness to collaboration. I also appreciate the amazing energy of Dr. Ben Kibler who continues to help make these conferences a success and Dr. Mark Kovacs who helped organize and create some excellent content for the program. Dr. Paul Caldwell and our planning committee and of course Stefani Higgins our STMS coordinator all contributed significantly towards this. We will be planning more local events due to the enthusiasm, but also likely will consider a partnership with AMTA (American Medical Tennis Association) and STMS to host the first North American Medical Tennis Championships in Orlando at the new USTA national training center (November 9-11, 2018). Please look out for more on this and block your calendar.
Dr. Paul Caldwell, STMS board member and chair of the website committee really wants to make sure that everyone goes to www.tennismedicine.org, renews membership and creates a member profile to have more forums and interactions amongst members. I think we are at a tipping point with a high trajectory of interest and we want to cultivate that with more interactions between meetings and STMS member involvement through this new website. Please enjoy another special themed issue edition to this journal and email us if you are interested in contributing to future themed issues (junior tennis player, performance training, adult recreational tennis player), or have any other independent contributions to the journal or newsletter! Enjoy this amazing journal, and also keep October, 2019 open for a Congress in Stockholm, Sweden!
