PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

It is my pleasure to be involved in this special themed issue for JMST on stroke mechanics with guest editors Natalie Myers and Ben Kibler. You will notice more high level articles and themed issues for 2018 as well as other important changes. The new website has launched (still go to www.tennismedicine.org), and you can now create member profiles for yourself, register for membership and conferences on the site, create a member password and have access to archived journals and new journals. We expect this will make webinars and other content available for members as we progress in our educational and scientific goals.

We are preparing for the 2018 STMS North American Regional Conference in partnership with PTR and iTPA in Hilton Head, South Carolina USA at the end of the PTR International conference (February 16–18th 2018). Register at www.tennismedicine.org.

Our STMS members have been active as well in running other regional conferences or workshops. Jonny Fraser and his sport science colleagues have a conference “RacketEdge” in their tennis fitness, sport science, and coaching conference in Sheffield, UK December 9, 2017. Kai Fenske is hosting a one day tennis medicine workshop in Germany on March 23, 2018. Finally, John Kirkpatrick (AMTA) hosted an AMTA event in Destin Florida in November where I had the opportunity to do an on court workshop for the attendees. We hope to collaborate with the AMTA to host the “North American Medical Tennis Championships” the second weekend of November 2018 at the USTA National Training Center in Orlando, Florida. I will be bringing my rackets, and we hope to have STMS provide some CME in the mornings of this tournament. Save the date!

So much going on and please get involved, stay involved, and PLEASE make sure to renew your membership to get all of your member benefits including our upcoming journals at www.tennismedicine.org.

Respectfully Yours,

Neeru Jayanthi, MD
